<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Final Image Preview<br />
</strong></span></p>
<p>Note: The images look better full size, just click the image to view them full size</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/colour.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-885" title="colour" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/colour.jpg" alt="" width="538" height="448" /></a><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/black-and-white.jpg"></a></p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/black-and-white.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-884" title="black and white" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/black-and-white-300x251.jpg" alt="" width="539" height="448" /></a></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Step 1</strong></span></p>
<p>Open the picture you would like to make out of text in Photoshop.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Step 2</strong></span></p>
<p>Create a new layer by going to Layer &gt; new &gt; Layer then click ok</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/1.png"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-879" title="1" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/1.png" alt="" width="458" height="162" /></a><br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/2.png"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-880" title="2" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/2.png" alt="" width="442" height="180" /></a></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Step 3</strong></span></p>
<p>Now drag the layer you just created to the bottom in the layers and set the background on that layer to black.<br />
Note : if you cant drag the layer that mean you have a layer locked so look at the layers and if you see a lock on one double click it then click ok then you should be able to move the layers.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/6.png"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-889" title="6" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/6.png" alt="" width="238" height="250" /></a></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Step 4</strong></span></p>
<p>Now create another layer by going to Layer &gt; new &gt; Layer then click ok then put this layer in the middle, so it should look like this.<br />
<a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/3.png"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-881" title="3" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/3.png" alt="" width="237" height="246" /></a><br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Step 5</strong></span></p>
<p>Select the text tool and type something over the picture on the second layer.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/4.png"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-882" title="4" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/4.png" alt="" width="577" height="462" /></a></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Step 6</strong></span></p>
<p>Now right click on the image layer (this should be the top layer) and click Create clipping mask.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/5.png"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-883" title="5" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/5.png" alt="" width="344" height="454" /></a></p>
<p><strong><br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">Step 7</span></strong></p>
<p>Sometimes the picture looks better with the text effect if it was black and white so to do this select the picture layer and press ctrl + shift + u</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Final Image</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/colour.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-885" title="colour" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2011/01/colour-300x251.jpg" alt="" width="563" height="471" /></a></strong></span></p>

<h4>Author: Jake  Walker</h4>
<p>Im Jake walker i live in the United Kingdom and, Im learning web development and photoshop in spare time, At the moment im doing A-level art, Graphic / Product design and Computing.</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<p>In this tutorial Jake will be showing you how to make a Smokey fire image from scratch, this is fairly simple but does take some time to get the flames correct.</p>
<p><strong>Step 1</strong></p>
<p>Open a new canvas/document, this can be any size you want, best to make it fairly small 700px x 700px because a big canvas can take a long time to load the changes you have made to it.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-662" title="1" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2010/02/150.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="300" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 2</strong></p>
<p>Now we need to choose a gradient for our image background, play around with the colours to suit you, I have chosen a blue and a dark blue for this example.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-663" title="2" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2010/02/229.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="300" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 3</strong></p>
<p>Choose the radial gradient and start from the bottom left corner and drag it up the the top right corner.<br />
<center><br />
<script type="text/javascript">
try{var AdBrite_Iframe=window.top!=window.self?2:1;var AdBrite_Referrer=document.referrer==''?document.location:document.referrer;AdBrite_Referrer=encodeURIComponent(AdBrite_Referrer);}catch(e){var AdBrite_Iframe='';var AdBrite_Referrer='';}
document.write(String.fromCharCode(60,83,67,82,73,80,84));document.write(' src="http://ads.adbrite.com/mb/text_group.php?sid=1874449&#038;br=1&#038;ifr='+AdBrite_Iframe+'&#038;ref='+AdBrite_Referrer+'" type="text/javascript">');document.write(String.fromCharCode(60,47,83,67,82,73,80,84,62));</script></p>
<div><a class="adHeadline" target="_top" href="http://www.adbrite.com/mb/commerce/purchase_form.php?opid=1874449&#038;afsid=1">Your Ad Here</a></div>
<p><!-- End: adBrite --><br />
</center></p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-664" title="3" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2010/02/327.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="300" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 4</strong></p>
<p>Now make a new layer and make a circle or a semi-circle, preferably  white.<br />
And select the smudge tool, you may need to play around with the settings to get them right.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-665" title="4" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2010/02/424.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="300" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 5</strong></p>
<p>Now that you have the smudge tool selected just drag the white/grey circle in a backwards “S” shape, once this is done do the same thing but start outside of the smudged area and bring it into the center as your smudging the “S” again. Keep repeating this step and change the layer modes to create different effects</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-666" title="5" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2010/02/520.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="300" /></p>
<p>This is my final image after working on it for a while, please go to www.flickr.com and make an account and post you final images in our flickr pool!</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-667" title="6" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2010/02/619.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="300" /></p>

<h4>Author: <a title="Liquidtutorials.com" rel="external" href="http://Liquidtutorials.com">Jake  Walker </a></h4>
<p>Im Jake walker i live in the United Kingdom and, Im learning web development and photoshop in spare time, At the moment im doing A-level art, Graphic / Product design and Computing.</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<p>In this Tutorial Jake will be showing you how to create your own brushes so you don’t have to worry about all the copyright laws about using them in your work, also you may just need a specific brush, then this is tutorial for you.</p>
<p><strong>step 1</strong><br />
To start with go to File new then for the best resolution for a brush choose 2500 x 2500 (or whatever your brush size is), then click OK.<br />
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-640" title="1" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2010/02/148.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="300" /></p>
<p><strong>step 2</strong><br />
next either copy or open your desired image you want to turn into a brush ( for example i have found a brush &amp; ink image on sxc.hu and have used that for this demonstration) then paste it into the new canvas you made a few seconds ago.<br />
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-641" title="2" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2010/02/227.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="300" /><br />
<center><br />
<script type="text/javascript">
try{var AdBrite_Iframe=window.top!=window.self?2:1;var AdBrite_Referrer=document.referrer==''?document.location:document.referrer;AdBrite_Referrer=encodeURIComponent(AdBrite_Referrer);}catch(e){var AdBrite_Iframe='';var AdBrite_Referrer='';}
document.write(String.fromCharCode(60,83,67,82,73,80,84));document.write(' src="http://ads.adbrite.com/mb/text_group.php?sid=1874449&#038;br=1&#038;ifr='+AdBrite_Iframe+'&#038;ref='+AdBrite_Referrer+'" type="text/javascript">');document.write(String.fromCharCode(60,47,83,67,82,73,80,84,62));</script></p>
<div><a class="adHeadline" target="_top" href="http://www.adbrite.com/mb/commerce/purchase_form.php?opid=1874449&#038;afsid=1">Your Ad Here</a></div>
<p><!-- End: adBrite --><br />
</center></p>
<p><strong>step 3</strong><br />
Once that is done, go to Image &gt; Adjustments &gt; shadow/highlights, then set this to your desired amount, this will effect the transparency and look of the finished brush. It also helps if you make the image black and white by pressing ctrl + u to desaturate the image.<br />
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-642" title="3" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2010/02/325.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="300" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 4</strong><br />
Now your almost done, (if your not to happy with the image you have, make a few changes to it untill your happy with it, then come back to this step when your ready) all that’s left is to select the whole image ctrl+a then convert it into a brush, First go to Edit &gt; Define Brush Preset &gt; then name the brush and click OK.<br />
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-643" title="4" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2010/02/423.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="300" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 5</strong><br />
now if you view your brushes it should be the last one, why not try it out!</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-644" title="5" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2010/02/519.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="300" /></p>
<p>Thanks for Reading this tutorial, it means alot to us and we hope you enjoyed it and found it helpful please rate the tutorial using the Star rating below on how useful this was for you.</p>

<p>Im Jake walker i live in the United Kingdom and, Im learning web development and photoshop in spare time, At the moment im doing A-level art, Graphic / Product design and Computing.</p>

<p>In this Tutorial Jake will show you how to place and merge a basic texture with skin.</p>
<p><strong>Step 1</strong></p>
<p>open your image’s one of a person of your choice and one of a texture of your choice,(its best to have cracked mud or flaky paint textures) then simply move the texture image onto the persons skin area.<br />
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-560" title="1" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2010/02/143.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="300" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 2</strong></p>
<p>Then quickly flick through the modes to get a desired look, i chose soft light, you may want to bring the opacity down if to much of the texture is coming through. pay around with these and see what you get. practice make perfect!<br />
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-561" title="2" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2010/02/223.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="300" /><br />
<center><br />
<script type="text/javascript">
try{var AdBrite_Iframe=window.top!=window.self?2:1;var AdBrite_Referrer=document.referrer==''?document.location:document.referrer;AdBrite_Referrer=encodeURIComponent(AdBrite_Referrer);}catch(e){var AdBrite_Iframe='';var AdBrite_Referrer='';}
document.write(String.fromCharCode(60,83,67,82,73,80,84));document.write(' src="http://ads.adbrite.com/mb/text_group.php?sid=1874449&#038;br=1&#038;ifr='+AdBrite_Iframe+'&#038;ref='+AdBrite_Referrer+'" type="text/javascript">');document.write(String.fromCharCode(60,47,83,67,82,73,80,84,62));</script></p>
<div><a class="adHeadline" target="_top" href="http://www.adbrite.com/mb/commerce/purchase_form.php?opid=1874449&#038;afsid=1">Your Ad Here</a></div>
<p><!-- End: adBrite --><br />
</center><br />
<strong>Step 3</strong></p>
<p>sometimes its best to desaturate the layer ( ctrl + shift + U) this can bring the color down quite a bit if to much color is getting through. next you erase by the parts you don’t want the texture over, in my case the eyes nose and lips.<br />
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-562" title="3" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2010/02/322.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="300" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 4</strong></p>
<p>Here is the final image I set my eraser to 30% opacity and took/ lightened some of the darker lines. so the “veins” around her mouth show through more.<br />
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-563" title="4" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/new/2010/02/420.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="300" /></p>
