<p>I&#8217;m Daniel Smart, I live in the United Kingdom and, I&#8217;m learning graphic design and Photoshop in spare time, As well as engineering and electronic design so expect some tutorials in this field soon.</p>
<p>In this Tutorial I will be showing you how to create your own Carbon Fiber effect.</p>
<p><strong>Step 1</strong><br />
The first step is to create a 4&#215;4 canvas.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/1.png"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-869" alt="1" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/1.png" width="343" height="251" /></a></p>
<p>Next colour it using the table below.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Capture.png"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-875" alt="Capture" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Capture.png" width="290" height="139" /></a></p>
<p>The result should look like this.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/2.png"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-870" alt="2" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/2.png" width="236" height="247" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 2</strong><br />
Next we need to define a pattern, to do this navigate to Edit&gt;Define Pattern.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/3.png"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-871" alt="3" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/3.png" width="477" height="421" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 3</strong><br />
Now when prompted we&#8217;ll name the pattern so its easy to find in the future.<br />
<a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/5.png"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-872" alt="5" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/5.png" width="569" height="332" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 4</strong><br />
In order to use this pattern we need to use the fill tool, you can access this by navigating to Edit&gt;Fill or using the shortcut keys (Shift + F5).To test the carbon fibre pattern, create a new canvas with bigger size, 500x400px would be good. Select the carbon fibre pattern, click <strong>OK.</strong><br />
<a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/6.png"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-873" alt="6" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/6.png" width="363" height="342" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 5</strong><br />
If all went well then the fill tool should generate the Carbon fibre pattern and it should look like the image below.<br />
<a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/7.png"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-874" alt="7" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/7.png" width="562" height="340" /></a></p>
<p>I hope you found this tutorial useful, Please remember to leave a comment or a Tweet, as well as letting us know if there are any tutorials you would like to see.</p>

<h4>Author: <a title="Liquidtutorials.com" href="http://Liquidtutorials.com" rel="external">Daniel Smart</a></h4>
<p>I&#8217;m Daniel Smart, I live in the United Kingdom and, I&#8217;m learning graphic design and Photoshop in spare time, As well as engineering and electronic design so expect some tutorials in this field soon.</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<p>In this Tutorial I will be showing you how to create your own 3d text effect to make your work stand out from the crowd.</p>
<p><strong>Step 1</strong><br />
Assuming you know how to create a Photoshop canvas I&#8217;ll jump straight into creating this project. Start by choosing a background colour and then using the font tool create your text. Once you&#8217;ve created the text use the warped text option to bend it to your will.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/1.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-827" alt="1" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/1.jpg" width="563" height="334" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 2</strong><br />
Using the warped text tool is simple, Here im just going to make the text bulge out slightly, So ill select the Bulge Option and set the bend value to +50%.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-828" alt="2" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/2.jpg" width="376" height="262" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 3</strong><br />
Next step is to duplicate the layer this will allow us to refine the front of the text at a later date, To do this Right-Click the Text Layer in the Layer panel and select Duplicate Layer.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-829" alt="3" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/3.jpg" width="311" height="587" /></p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/4.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-830" alt="4" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/4.jpg" width="453" height="188" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 4</strong><br />
Next step is to hide the top-most layer we just duplicated this prevents us from editing it until we need it.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/5.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-831" alt="5" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/5.jpg" width="212" height="274" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 5</strong><br />
In order to edit the text it need to be in an image form for Photoshop to do this select the lower visible layer of text, Right-Click and select merge down. This combines the text with the layer below in the layer panel, in this case the background.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/6.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-832" alt="6" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/6.jpg" width="246" height="746" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 6</strong><br />
Now we&#8217;ll use the Polar Coordinates tool to rearrange the image for the next step, to find the tool navigate to Filters&gt;Distort&gt;Polar Coordinates</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/7.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-833" alt="7" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/7.jpg" width="380" height="488" /></a></p>
<p>We will use the Polar to Rectangle mode.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/8.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-834" alt="8" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/8.jpg" width="302" height="329" /></a></p>
<p>Then click OK and your image should look like this.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/9.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-835" alt="9" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/9.jpg" width="562" height="420" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 7</strong><br />
Next step is to rotate the canvas, to do this navigate to Image&gt;Rotate Canvas&gt;Rotate 90° CW. This will rotate the whole canvas 90° Clockwise while maintaining the same aspect ratio.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/10.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-836" alt="10" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/10.jpg" width="372" height="357" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 8</strong><br />
Now that the Image has been prepared we can extrude it back to create the 3D extruded effect. To do this navigate to Filter&gt;Stylize&gt;Wind.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/11.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-837" alt="11" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/11.jpg" width="367" height="531" /></a></p>
<p>We shall be using the &#8220;Wind Mode&#8221; as well as the &#8220;From The Left&#8221; option.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/12.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-838" alt="12" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/12.jpg" width="303" height="448" /></a></p>
<p>Now this is the basis of the 3D effect how ever it doesn&#8217;t look very good at the moment, In order to remedy this we will keep running the Wind tool again. To do this either navigate back to the wind tool and run it again or use the shortcut keys (CTRL + F) on Windows or ( Command⌘ + F) on Mac OS X. Repeat this until your image <span class="vk_ans vk_bk">resembles the image below.<br />
</span></p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/13.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-839" alt="13" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/13.jpg" width="527" height="696" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 9</strong><br />
Now we need to reverse the rotation of the canvas and get the image back to the way we began, to do this navigate to Image&gt;Rotate Canvas&gt;Rotate 90° CCW.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/14.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-840" alt="14" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/14.jpg" width="373" height="358" /></a></p>
<p>Then we can rerun the Polar Coordinates tool, to do this navigate to Filters&gt;Distort&gt;Polar Coordinates.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/15.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-841" alt="15" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/15.jpg" width="381" height="491" /></a></p>
<p>This time we will use the Rectangle To Polar option.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/16.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-842" alt="16" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/16.jpg" width="303" height="330" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 10</strong><br />
Next we unhide the top layer, this allows us to edit the front face of the text.<br />
<a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/17.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-843" alt="17" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/17.jpg" width="215" height="194" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 11</strong><br />
In order the text you first need to select the blending options tab, to do so Right-click the text layer and select Blending Options.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/18.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-844" alt="18" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/18.jpg" width="366" height="422" /></a></p>
<p>Then we will add a Inner Shadow this has the effect of adding som definition to the text making it stand out from the effect.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/19.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-845" alt="19" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/19.jpg" width="608" height="455" /></a></p>
<p>Next we will add in some color using the gradient overlay.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/20.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-846" alt="20" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/20.jpg" width="610" height="457" /></a></p>
<p>Finally we will use the stroke tool to give the text abit of texture.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/21.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-847" alt="21" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/21.jpg" width="608" height="456" /></a><br />
If all went well the final image should look like this.</p>
<p><a href="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/final.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-848" alt="final" src="http://liquidtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/final.jpg" width="613" height="459" /></a></p>
